We've just invested in a series of new, state of the art, Toyota Expert 9000 embroidery machine. This is the best embroidery machine on the market. It takes designs in electronic form and turns them into tight, precise embroidery.
The Expert 9000 embroiders with 15 needles at once (so you can use up to 15 colours of thread in one design) and up to 1,200 stitches per minute. Also, this is a single head machine – i.e. each machine has only one embroidery head, embroidering one garment at once.
Our previous machines were 12 head - they could embroider 12 garments at once. But we found that this led to a lot of 'down time'. If one head broke or a thread snapped, all 12 heads were at a standstill until it was fixed. With several single head machines, a technical problem causes the minimum of disruption. Also, 12 head machines are quick for large runs of the same design (technical failures aside), but for smaller runs, they are inefficient. All 12 heads need to be embroidering the same design, so if you want to embroider five garments, 7 heads have to be standing empty, which again, leads to a lot of down time and delays, and makes smalls runs uneconomical.
